Hey, guys! I was wondering what is your opinion on the Old Indian (1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 d6), regardless of whether or not you play this opening.

Game 944710 was the only time I tryed it. The bishop is better on g7 which is why people play the King's Indian.

The great Russian Grandmaster Mikhal Tchigorin played the Old Indian often, and he thought it was better than the King's Indian Defense.

The only book that I can think of that is devoted solely to the Old Indian Defense is "The (Not So) Old Indian" by Andrew Soltis (published by Chess Digest around 1984).

GM's John Speelman and Eugenio Torre played it once in a while.
