For those RHP players struggling with less than satisfactory OTB results, this may be because you are taking on a task that is too heavy. I've noticed over the last 20+ years those who play at a very high level tend to specialize in either OTB or Correspondence Chess. They almost never do both. Many of us work at jobs, run business's, have children etc. Our time and energy is limited. In order to maximize our playing strength and rating, it may be wise to choose either OTB, or Correspondence Chess and concentrate our efforts on only one of these.😏

A few years back we played OTB chess for the same clubs in Holland and Germany with decent results.
So you see it can work both ways.😏
I really cannot see why one should interfere with the other.
Dougie Bryson became a Corres GM at the same time playing
top level Over The Board Chess.
A good chess player will perform well under both sets of conditions,
The only difference is (from my point of view) you can take more
risks OTB and get away with it.
If you think one is suffering because of the other then cut back
on the corres games.
otb and correspondence chess should be viewed as essentially the same game as there are no critical reasons why both should not yeild the same basic results over a period of time. A good plan and or series of moves is as easy to produce when looking at a physical chessboard, as it is on a computer or similar monitor.Knowing which are the best or most accurate moves in any given chessboard position is determined by study and experience of chess, and can therefore be applied equally successfully to any form of regular chess game.Being able to make these decisions speedily can be an effective tactical weapon otb in terms of the ability to consume less time, but the same basic results should be equal or near equal with correct management of the time available for each game, however it is played.-----😴
