i had a thought today
set up a REAL ACTUAL chessboard next to my computer, and have it set up with a game i'm playing on rhp.
that way when i walk past i can have a look at it.
i used to do this when i played correspondance chess over email, but gave up in the end because i kept knocking it over.
anyway, i miss having a physical board to stare at and ponder.
what i'm wondering is, will i do better in this game because it will force me to think for longer about each move, and help me see the board from different points of view, or will i fall to pieces without the 'analyse board' function?
we will see. next new game will be the lucky guinea pig...
Originally posted by murrowI've seen magnetic boards that can be stuck to the fridge and also laminated boards with pieces made of clingy plastic that can be hung up on a bulletin board. That would probably be a better idea than setting up a board on a table or desk. Also, you free up your board to play someone live and in person.

When you decide on a move, move it. Now, turn the board around and play from the other side (even if you think about it for a day or so).
Will this make much difference - I personally lack the patience to do this, but if you do it, let us know how it works?
