I have a friend that won many blitz games (even against IMs and he is not even a FM) and even blitz tournaments with 1...f6 2...Kf7...
He is very strong in blitz.
Usually, opponents are trying disperately to find forced winning combinations and in this way they are loose precious seconds and sometimes they are even weakening thei pawn structures by trying to get as much space as ppossible...
Anyway, in long games he plays normal openings.
