    This is SO true - great point GP - almost all of my best friends are chess players - not people I worked with, not people I met at a bar, not people who were neighbors, not people I met at the gym, etc, etc.

    Whenever I really needed a friend it was a chess player who was there for me - and vice versa.

    Agree, chess players do seem a nice lot of folk, accept when you beat them.
