    Fischer used to play the Ba3 lines quite a lot. I think this is the game I first saw: http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1044136

    I remember the notes to the game showed that White was better after 9. ... cxd4 and the resultant queen swap-off.

    The diference between the line I covered and the one you did is the endgame it leads to. RxR endgame or NxB endgame, with white up a pawn in both cases. I'd rather this NxB cause black's bishop wouldn't be very good. But I'm not sure if it really is a better choice.

    Anyway, with all that pressure on the queenside, white should have captured that pawn.

    Just to say thanks to everyone who has offered their time and experience to give me some advice/analysis.

    I'm going to go over some of these variations over the weekend and see what I can learn.
