Who offered a draw? I wouldnt take a draw here as white... its still undecided and i like whites position.

I was playing Black & White offered the draw.
I thought about it for about 10 seconds before accepting 😉

He's a colleague from work who usually plays quite a solid game.

I think White does have the advantage in the game above. He has to be careful though & I don't think he is winning by any stretch of the imagination.
I don't understand why he chose the Ponziani when you can play the Spanish torture instead.

You're still lucky... you were skating on thin ice over a river. It would have taken accurate play to keep white's advantage from growing.. white would need to play accurate to keep it but he had a draw in the bag so that keeps the pressure off.

i know theres a few good trick lines/commonly unknown positions that gives white a little better odds than usual, but better is 3.Bb5,Bc4,d4,Nc3 etc 😛
