I installed Fritz 8 in the wee hours of the morning and have run through all my complete games on RHP and a couple dozen pgns from Yahoo blitz games and have noticed one common theme (apart from hundreds of blunders and missed mate-in-threes) - according to Fritz, all the games are decided within twelve moves. Some of these games go on for 40-50 moves in game terms, but that's purely down to my opponent and I making poor move choices. I'm wondering if this is common or if we're just that bad?

Must admit I'm somewhat amused by Fritz' kibitzing - "praying for a miracle" "doesn't keep the bull off the ice" "and black can celebrate victory" is only more amusing when you take into account it's saying this along with it's suggested best moves at move twelve when the actual game went on for three times that number 🙂.

Even what Fritz considers a won game is by no means won between two amateur players. Fritz will call being the exchange or a piece up a matter of technique however it is far from it in many cases.
