I'm certain this will have been posted many times before but has anyone played a game where a promotion to a non-queen piece was necessary. I've descovered a possition requiring pawn to rook conversion:
white has two pawns at a5 and c7 and a king at c3 (or anywhere really)
black has just a king at a7
White to move.
conversion to queen will result in stalemate.
are there situations where a bishop conversion is the only way to win? I can see Knight conversions been quite common because they move totaly different to queens.

Played a game with a buddy, Langy. It was a hard fought battle, but at the end it was his pawn promotion to a bishop which secured him the win.

(Note: this was a silly, drawn out, come-and-get-me game, and this post is not meant to be taken seriously, relax.)
