I apologize for asking you folks a question after a long RHP hiatus. This position comes from a book I'm working thru on the Scotch game. The author states that in this position, Kd8 is forced for black. I don't understand why Qe5 doesn't defend the white knights threat to c7...any help?
Originally posted by HeyDrezaI'm not sure what damage the white queen can do, but I assumed if Qxg2, then White plays Bf3 (protecting the rook on h1 and forcing the black queen to bail out on h3 or g6). Then White can recoup the pawn on c7 and go up the exchange. But I didn't look at it real closely.
also bad (which I did see...) is Qxg2, which allows the N fork, forces a king move, and then in comes the white queen with a world of hurt...
