Hey, I've had several opponents simply offer up their Queen, just to take my Queen. I'm sure it depends on the circumstances, but do any of you generally find it better to risk Queen for Queen or try to dodge to existing seige? Thx.
If you're winning the game through material, trading is often good.
If trading queens gives you a tactical opportunity, by all means trade.
Like I said, it totally depends.
edit - wittywonka in the post after mine sums it up perfectly.

In general, if you are behind in material (or even behind positionally), you probably don't want to trade queens.
Originally posted by Evey HammondIf you have a space advantage do not trade even when material is even. You can count how much space you have by counting the squares your pieces and pawns can attack in your opponent's side of the board and comparing them with yours. Conversely, where you find yourself in a position where your opponent has an advantage in space always (nearly) exchange.
Thank you...yes. I often find that opponents offer up their Queen as a distraction, because I'm winning. I have gone ahead and given her up from time to time, and usually I end up winning. 🙂

This was one game where I was down in material, but queen for queen gave me a chance to win the endgame. This was from a while ago, hope I wouldn't make all the same mistakes now.
