Here is quite a nice long term queen sacrifice in a game I just finished playing against a fairly strong opponent on fics.

loved it, that was a fun watch.
very very well played out, it kind of reminds me of fischer's famous long-term queen sac.

should this really be called a sacrifice? you got 3 pieces for a queen and pawn. interesting game though.

I'm definitely a fan, regardless of sacrifice semantics. It's got to take a lot of guts to make a move like that.

Obviously it's easy to see things afterwards, but what do you think to a cheeky 29. Bxg5?

Great job making his queen utterly useless in that corner. I guess he got a little too greedy.

Was 21...g5 playable? I don't think if white loses that bishop he has sufficient compensation for the queen, but I'm not 100% sure - just a quick thought.

there's 22.h4 then.

It definately goes to show that the three pieces can be pretty well used in a closed game where the queen cant get itself in and cause any mischeif.

The three pieces are usually more than enough for the queen.

21... g5 could have blocked in your bishop!

Edit: Oops... yes, 22 h4 = not blocked in anymore

can you come back when you spotted a real queen sacrifice. I find actually that three pieces are better then the queen. with a pawn, then I'll take the three pieces.

Actually, it black that has sacrified materials and should have fun.

the bishop will take three tempos to escape.
Qxc4 is interessing tought when we lose her. ...
