so i've heard from some players that if you dominate certain squares you can win. for instance i was playing my dad and he said he was playing a light squared game where he controlled the light squares. is this something worth trying to learn or no and do any of you use it and could explain it to me?
Originally posted by kmac27Tis something very much worth learning. Yes all strong players understand/use it.

Its all to do with piece coordination, if your pieces are control a certain colour complex you should be able to get well placed pieces and make inroads into the other players position on this colour.

Im white.....with the light square bishops off and the nice outpost on d5, trading the dark square bishop for a knight that can control light squares is logical.
