    Why is it that after 1 d4 d5 2 c4 c6 white usually plays Nf3 followed by Nc3, as opposed to the Nc3 followed by Bg5 he usually plays after 2... e6?

    Apparently, 3.Nc3 allows the Winawer Counter-Gambit 3...e5. Whether it's sound or not, that's another question. Besides not many people actually play this anyway.
