I've been reading Pandolfini's guide to chess, and it has been of help to me, now I've been thinking of getting Romans Lab: Mastering chess series on VHS, has anyone seen any of these tapes? are thay worh getting. I only have a 1238 rating, and am just starting to get into tactics. So I'm trying to find study material that is not to complacated. The VHS tapes are by Roman Dzhinzhikasvili.
Originally posted by ErvinI tried to watch the the first two of the dvds and can say that the material is pretty far above 1300. I am finding book study useful. In particular The winning chess series. The vids are very dry stuff and could be improved to make them more appealing.

Originally posted by ErvinI'm a big fan of Roman D but I would not recommend his video to you at this stage. You are better off reading book, or getting the Pro Chess DVD by Gm Yasser Seriwan.

If you need books to read, get the Winning Chess Series books, 7 in all by Gm Yasser Seriwan.
