What are the ratings of the white and black player?
I guessed around 1700-1800 OTB for both players.
Originally posted by RahimKI'm not sure, but IMO, blacks mistakes were not obvious.

so....roughly work out what 1700 rhp is otb, add 60 pts, and thats my guess.
My hope is that I will rememeber what move to play in my OTB games by using db's here. After a few games of playing the same move, it sticks in.
I guess my move first and then check in a db instead of blindly following the db.
Plus the db move is usually the best move in the position and that's what you are striving for, the best move in the position. As long as you understand why the move was played, it's okay.

Can you clarify why you would rate either player at 1700-ish? I was rather impressed with white's pawn sac 17.g5 and I don't find many moves that strike me as a very weak ( or perhaps 21..... Nh7?).
3.Bb5+ followed by 4.c4
11...Nb6 Silman calls that an odd move. I didn't pick up on that.
12...e5
Also the Nf5 seemed strange to me. I haven't seen it to much and I know one book I read said that the Knight should not go there. Perhaps they were just talking about the opening.
When black plays e5, The knight goes to b3 or Nb5.
It was probably just for that opening. Something like:
1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 e5
The g5 was nice. Very bold moves at the end and interesting game.
