If the same possition arises 2 times in a row then you or your opponent can claim a draw by clicking on the claim draw button.

From the help/FAQ page of this site....

Third repetition of a position. If any identical position appears three times during a game, then the game can be claimed as a draw. Please note that each repetition must be identical with regards to en passant and castling availability. A draw can only be claimed along with a move that contributes to a repetition. Claiming after the repetition has occurred is not possible, unless the same position can be repeated again on a future move.

That was all correct except that it's 3 repetitions, not 2.

In a recent game my opponent claimed the draw after just two moves, I believe the move of claiming was the 'second and a half move', so to speak. It was the thirth move of my opponent, but at that time I only had made two moves. I would think it cannot happen after I have moved the same move for the third time...?

Not true.

The repetition does not have to be consecutive. You could have a few moves between the instances, and it still counts.

Ok ok....

A draw can be claimed without any interaction from your opponent under a number of conditions. These are as follows:

No piece capture or pawn movement has occurred for over 50 consecutive moves (100 half moves). Therefore the game has not progressed and a draw may be claimed by either player during their next move.

Insufficient material remains on the board to finish the game. If only two kings remain then either player may claim a draw during their next move.

Please note that each repetition must be identical with regards to en passant and castling availability. A draw can only be claimed along with a move that contributes to a repetition. If you mean your game against Talem16 (Game 768293 then the position with black's queen on e3 and the white king on g6 was repeated 3 times (after white's 55th, 57th and 59th move). Therefore black can claim a draw.

If that's not the game you mean then post the link.
