Hi everyone. Here is my third game in the league games this season. This time I played on board 5 in Division 1! 🙂
I'll post my thoughts on the game later (once I have time today or tomorrow). Once I've posted them, could you, please, provide me with your comments, suggestions, advice, etc? Thanks.
Originally posted by cnwlwzjI think you mean 2. e3 as it was white's second move.
just simple analysis for the opening, the white 3rd move:e3 is not active,he should play Bf4.However,as the same theory, you shouldn't play e6,for this move block your bishop diagonal.
And allow his e5 advance is the biggest mistake which lead you a piece down.
When black played 1. ... e6 he wasn't playing anything weak at all. He was playing the French defence, a solid defence with plenty of counterattacking opportunities. While you're right about it blocking in black's queenside bishop that tends not to be a major issue. (if you don't believe that, try telling it to User 117414! And if you don't believe that, look in databases, it's the 3rd most common response to 1. e4.)
As for white's 2. e3, white was responding to the French defence with the King's Indian Attack; a system useful for avoiding plenty of theory.
My thoughts on the third game Guych (1510) vs William (1350).
Before the game I wanted to play KIA, because I haven't prepaired for anything else. Still decided to play 1. e4 even though if I see 1...e5 I cannot play KIA. I think some people recommend to start KIA with e4 rather than Nf3.
1. e4 e6 {I was glad it wasn't e5.} 2. d3 d5 3. Nd2 Nc6 4. Ngf3 Bc5 5. g3 Nf6 6. Bg2 dxe4 {Here I was affraid of 7. Nxd4 Nxd4 8. exd4 Qxd1+ 9. Kxd1 Bxf2.} 7. dxe4 e5 8. O-O Bg4 9. h3 Bh5 10. Re1 Qe7 11. Qe2 Nd4 12. Qd3 O-O-O 13. Nxd4 Bxd4 14. Qb3 Qc5 {For some reason I feel that my (white's) moves 11 through 14 were not good and allowed blacks to get the initiative.} 15. Rf1 Be2 {I got really scared here, luckily I found c3.} 16. c3 Bxf1 17. cxd4 Qxd4 18. Kxf1 Qd3+ 19. Kg1 Qxb3 20. Nxb3 Rd1+ 21. Kh2 Rhd8 22. Bf3 Re1 23. Be3 Rxa1 24. Nxa1 h6 25. Nc2 b6 26. Nb4 Kb7 27. Nd5 {I'm still not sure if I should have been worried about 27...Nxd5, but I think even then whites are OK.} Rd6 28. Nxf6 {I also thought of playing 28. Ne7, but something stopped me. Now I think I could play that with no problems.} Rxf6 29. Bh5 Rc6 30. b3 f6 31. Bf7 Rc2 32. a4 a5 33. h4 {After this move I had the nice defended pawn chain of f-g-h files and planned to march my K to attack black's K-side pawns. I wasn't worred about e4, because I don't see how black can effectively attack it.} c6 34. Kh3 b5 35. axb5 cxb5 36. Kg4 a4 37. bxa4 bxa4 38. Kf5 a3 39. Kg6 Kc8 {Now I see this move as a subtle waiting move. During the game I didn't notice that if 40. Kxg7, I allow black to promote on a1.} 40. Kxg7 Rc7 41. Kxf6 Rxf7+ 42. Kxf7 a2 43. Kg6 a1=Q 44. Kxh6 Qh1 45. Kg7 {I don't know why I did this, someone comment on this, plz.} Qxe4 46. Kf6 Kd7 47. Kg5 Ke6 48. g4 Qh7 49. h5 Qg7+ 50. Kh4 {Around this time I became confident that I could hold the position.} Kf6 51. Kg3 Qh7 52. Kh4 Qe4 53. Bg5+ Kg7 54. Be3 Qh1+ 55. Kg5 e4 56. Bd4+ Kh7 57. Be3 Qf3 58. Bd4 Qf7 59. Be3 Qf3 60. Bd4 Qh3 61. Be3 Kg7 62. Bd4+ Kf7 63. Be3 Qf3 64. Bd4 Ke6 65. Kh4 Kd5 66. Be3 Qg2 67. Kg5 {Around this time I offered a draw and my opponent refused. Later I was searching for 3 fold repetition but couldn't see it in my score-sheet.} Qf3 68. Kh4 Qh1+ 69. Kg5 Qf3 70. Kh4 Kc4 71. Kg5 Qh3 72. Bb6 Kd5 73. Be3 Ke5 74. Bf4+ Ke6 75. Be3 Qf3 76. Kh4 Qf6+ 77. Kh3 {My opponent offered a draw here.} 1/2-1/2
As you can see my analysis here is really weak. So, please, give me you comments on this game, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.
In your third game.I see your opponent play an French defence opening which is my favourite opening.Although 2.d3 is acceptable. But this is not active.Better would have been d4,control the center.Besides,in the 11st move, you should consider advance your c file pawn to c3,which control the d4,d4 is a very important square according to the particular situation!
The rest move seems normal, and when you play to about30moves,a pair of bishops against his one rook, that's already a draw game !
