I've come across this Kasparov computer on sale on eBay - it looks to be just what I want - which is a nice centrepiece for my living room. Not just for vs computer, but friends as well.

It looks much nicer than the top-of-the range tabletops I've seen and (at the time of writing) will cost just under £70 including postage.

I can't find this model for sale anywhere else (leonardo) - so I assume it may be quite old.

My question is, will it still give me good game? I used to play about 20 years ago with a peak grading of about 110 (if my memory seves me well) - so I don't really need a superbrain to play against.

See it here:

(I tried to post the actual ebay URL but got the message 'word too long'😉

Ah, sorry, I'm going to bid on it and win it before you can.

Looks mighty nice!
Says it plays over 2000 ELO strength but if it is what I think it is then it'll play closer to 2100 ELO(based on swedish national ELO ratings).Now all you need to do is convert that 110 (British?) rating of yours to ELO and you know if it's strong enough 🙂

If this is correct (from chessville.com):

ELO = (BCF x 5) + 1250

Then I was 1800. Hate to think what I'd be now after not playing for so long...

BCF < 216 Elo = (BCF x 5) + 1250
BCF > 216 Elo = (BCF x 8) + 600
