I last played chess in 1990 but have been facinated with the game since reading about it in the 2nd Alice book at a young age. I'd like someone to help me create a very short game with the following considerations:
*I need to know the correct way to address the movement of the pieces
*the game can not last more than 20-30 moves
*I need to know the correct term for the draw motion of knocking over the piece
If you can help please write. I'd be glad for any help and/or input.
I'd love to help...You want the actual moves to a short game? Look up what I regard as one of the greatest games ever played, between Wilhelm Steinitz and Curt von Bardeleben. It is short, of course.
EDIT:
That was not of much help. I have written two short stories incorporating chess. In the first, I 'adressed the movement of the pieces' through standard chess notation, which was a bit stupid of me. In the second, I had parentheticals describing in words what was actually happening. However, the best storytelling I have seen with chess is Arturo Perez-Reverte's "The FLanders Panel". He merely used periodical pictures of the board. As to knocking over pieces, this is generally only done when one is resigning a game. To do this, the king is tipped (with a sad flourish).
Originally posted by Caroline77First off it sounds like you need a game that ends in draw? No one tips their king in this kind of game. The king is tipped by someone who resignes (lost the game / gave up)
I thought the edit within your note was written by another person? π
Thanks for any input you can give about a real short, short game. Perferbably one beginning with The Black King on one side and ending with a standoff between two main pieces.
Also sounds like you want it to end with just a King and a major piece each? This probably wouldn't happen in 20-30 moves... would be quite a silly game if it happened. That would be about 30 captures in 20 or 30 moves.
So you need a short games that ends with a draw? I'll post one for you if you like. You can also check out my profile to see a nice short game that ends in Checkmate. I'll be chaning it soon, so check it out soon.
Keep me posted!

Originally posted by Caroline77I'll start a game, and you can give me your sn. However, we can really just talk in the game. It's not real time, but I move/message at least once per day.
So if I go under the ghame and post a question we'd be able to talk in real time? Sorry if I sound like such a ditzπ³ I'm still learning what this computer of mine can do. If you have access to AOL IM I could give you my sn if that would help? π
