Why would you want an easier opponent?
fritz and shredder both have no compatibility problems with chessbase. they just have very different styles, shredder is the one that's said to be more positional, (and fritz more tactical). and the best engine for analysing endgames. I'm not sure about neither, but it's what it's known for.

Anyway, Shredder is stronger than Fritz, but they are both equally Chessbase compatible. However, if it was up to me, I would go for Rybka or HIARCS. Definitely.
whats the difference between shredder and fritz? which on is more compatiable with chessbase? also my experience with fritz is that its pretty hard the lowest rating is 1650 with it and i can only beat that 2 times out of 7. is shredder easier at the lower levels?
Shredder has different playing style, when you reduce his strength to, say 1500 he want play good and then drop piece, he will make tactical mistake often leading to for you nice tactical combination, I enjoyed playing shredder the most. More than fritz and especially Chessmaster.. It is much more human like than that two. I think so at least
