Hi,

I recently played a game (I was black) that started:

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 e5

So far everythig is according to theory, but now instead of 6. Ndb5 - my opponent played 6. Nf3 (which is very unusual)

I don't think it's is good for white, but I'm not sure why. Can anyone suggest how black should continue?

Thanks,
kuku

We cannot advise you, because your game is not on this site and so we cannot verify that it has ended. Still, this is a correspondence chess site, and you can do research on your game for yourself. The general internet is a good source of games that don't show up in small databases.

Here is my tip: a search using Yahoo.com for
"1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 e5 6. Nf3" WON'T WORK because the search engine will find "matches" for the shorter string "1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 d4 cxd4 4"

Instead, search for the end "4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 e5 6. Nf3" and you will find 35 matches for the whole game, some of them from championship games with results.

It is still your decision which of the many possible lines should be followed.
