Maybe 7.e5 would have helped? It is the suggested move in a similar but different line.

@eladar said7. … e5 is a reasonable suggestion, but Black is OK in any event at that point. I should have given 7. … Nb4 a more serious look than I did, according to Komodo now that the game is over.

My last move 14. ...g5 was just a blunder. Black's position was fine until I headbutted his fist.
