Looking for more success here at RHP or Correspondence Chess in general? Unlike Cheater1, I can't claim to be an authority, but here are some practical ideas that have helped me a lot.

1. Take on a game load no more than about 75% of what you judge to be your maximum limit. This will aid in the quality of your play, and cut down on burn out.

2. Take a day or 2 and evaluate your lifestyle. Ask yourself: Am I going to be able to finish these games without compromising my daily activities?

3. Once past the automatic opening (book) moves, print out a copy of the board and use a standard chess set to search for your next move. Once you've found a good move, try to find a better one. DON"T just stare at the computer screen.

4. Always be polite and honest.

5. Click on all skulls! If you respect the event's time limits, your opponent should also.

6. Play with a strong mindset. Be tough in difficult positions, and relentless in winning positions.

7. If your position is clearly hopeless, and you have no chance to win, be a good sport and resign. Remember, you may meet your opponent again in future play, with the situations reversed. It's not wise to make enemies.

8. Don't beat yourself up if your not doing well, it's part of the process.

9. Balance your study and playing time. Both are necessary if one hopes to become a strong player.

I know I've brought some of this up a few months ago, but these tips are some I've picked up from some very strong Correspondence players. My rating has gone up over 250 points in less than 6 months by following them.

In terms of sincerity, common sense, and usefulness, your single post has already far eclipsed the sum total of what cheater1 has posted since he started flapping his gums on RHP. Imho, cheater1 is an authority only in his dreams. 😀

I agree on everything except n°5 : maybe it will improve your rating but not your chess ability...
