Spurious Chess

Only Chess

A small book review without giving anything away, other than the fact I enjoyed
it. It is a murder mystery, the victims being chess players, the clues chess based.

Another book review where only I examine the name of the book and it’s cover picture.

Inspired by two Knights and only two Knights winning a game I found some RHP examples.

A study by Composed by Harold Maurice Lommer (1904-1980)

White to play and draw.

Finally another date with an old mate.

Stories with chess themes are precious and few. It would be nice if high profile authors would leave the world of vampires, werewolves, and dystopian futuristic dictatorships, just for a short time, and write something about chess.

Hi mchill,

The trouble with getting establish authors dipping their toes into chess is
they often get their knowledge of the game from wiki or a non-playing friend.

The chess in 'Spurious Games' is spot on. (one tiny error not worth a real nit-pick).

The Author liked my review and sent me a hard backed autographed copy.

Thank You.

I assume you have read "The Defense" by Nabokov. Sometimes called "The Luzhin Defense." It's a great read.
