Standard vs Blitz

I recently started playing on a site that does not require having a chess program. Sorry FIC


After losing games on time playing 10 minute games I decided to go standard 15.

The 15 minute people don't seem to be as good as the 10 minute people. At this point my rating standard is about 100 points better that 10 minute blitz. I have had time to find one or two moves I would have missed blitz, but these standard players seem to leave themselves open to pins and forks.

In 15 or so games I've taken a pinned knight by attacking it with a pawn 2 or 3 times. Blitz my level I never get to do that.

A 1700 plus guy just gave me his queen. He might have been playing on a toich screen too, I find that with this phone what I try to do and what I actually do are not always the same.

Yeah, the better players don't play 15 minute games. They stick to blitz. Does the site give separate ratings for blitz vs. Standard? You can expect your ratings in each to be completely different because they are in a different pool of players. Just look for higher rated opponents in 15 minute games.

Figured out how to view stats. This last guy I played had 200 point drops for each category.

Bullet 1300 blitz 1500 standard 1700

So play 1900 players in Standard.

1.b3 isn't bad for fast blitz games, wouldn't be bad for bullet either I'm thinking.
