    Hi Streetfighter,

One of the whizz kids will PGN it for you - don't have an engine
on this computer to do it.

Thanks for telling us who the girl is.
I gues I was wrong about the rain - 35c!

(should you not be at the Championship selling your book?)

Rh7 instead of Rh8+ looks like a different mess, same theme...

I'm involved in a wonderful tricky corres battle at the moment
where me and my opponent are moving within a few minutes of
    each other.

So have not given this 100% but think

    Rh7 Rxb2+
    Bxb2 axb2
    Rxg7+ Kxg7
Bf5+ (to cover flight square d7)

    and that's a perpetual. (I'll take it )

When positon arose would then see if after Kxb2 White
    can ride out the checks.

You're both on the right trail, but don't settle for anything less than a clear win!

I spent ages on Rh8+ (which is a howler) because I knew this position was 'White to play and win'. My younger brother Walter had phoned me a few months previously and described a horrible loss as black where he had wandered into this exact position-so I knew there was a forced win, but just couldn't see it (or remember it!).

Both moves are winning - Ka1 is probably quicker vipiu, well spotted. In Greenspawn's line don 't play Rxg7, there's something deadlier!

Yes Ka1 looks a better move (well done) - though by now I would
have settled for the perpetual and then gone off to try chat up that girl!

    I'm not a streetfighter,
I'm a streetlayabout scrounging the bins for draws.

And she's married Greenspawn!! Married women don't like being chatted up by chessplayers...trust me on that one πŸ˜‰

See it now - Bxf7 is the move instead of Rxg7.

All this nonsense has screwed me up - I've gone and
missed a backward Knight move in my game. But by a complete
lucky fluke I think I'm still OK.
(which most likely means I'm lost).

    "And she's married Greenspawn..."

In that case I would have stayed away and gone for the win.
    (I would have phoned Walter)

That was an ambition of mine once.
To marry a pretty chess-playing girl.

(I ended up marrying the complete opposite...don't tell her I wrote this).
