Can anyone recommend any good chess books for kids? I'd like to get some for our scholastic chess club. Most of the kids are 9 years and under. The youngest is 6, oldest is 17.
What about How to Beat Your Dad at Chess ? My daughter want that one, she's 9.
How to beat your dad is good - my 11-year-old had it and my 9-year old uses it now. I'd recommend it.
I also remember 'Chess for Children' - fairly basic, but 'More Chess for Children' was quite good. ( I think the authors were Somebody and Morrison).
There was a book I learnt from called 'Chess for Children'. I'm not sure if it's still in print, but was a lovely hard backed book with easy diagrams and cartoons (when talking about pinning a piece for example, the cartoon had the Queen with a big pin through her dress so she couldn't move). I don't know who published it though unfortunately.
