Hi everyone

Does anyone know what the current theory is on sacrificing to prevent castling? I was tempted to do this in a recent game but bottled out as I wasn't sure I'd gain too much from doing so.

Haven't looked anything up on this yet and thought I'd put it out to you guys to see what people think.

Cheers!

Erm.......depends on the position and how much compensation you are getting for your sac. Look up the Fried Liver opening.....🙂

its only good if you can get pieces into position for a mating attack... the biggest advantage to stopping a king from castling is that it is harder (sometimes alot harder) for that side to get the rook into play, so if you can create a battery before your opponent can activate the rook, then you should have an advantage.

As well, the king is only vulnerable in the center if the center is open.
