What is the point of the bayonet attack in the KID? White plays b4, then eventualy c5, and then... I don't really understand how whites play on the queenside is suppost to work. for example cxd6 cxd6 and what weakness is white trying to attack? Does anyone have a good thematic game where white succussfully excutes his plan?

Try buying "Starting Out the King's Indian" by Joe Gallagher or "Starting Out 1.d4" by John Cox.
Both give excellent coverage of this system.
Originally posted by chrspaynI recently started playing the bayonet attack- I don't have any games, but I can tell you whatever little understanding I have of it. Yes, white advances b4 with the idea of c5, but there is more than that. Usually black will play ...Nf5 (Maybe ...Nd7) with the idea of ...f5. When he does this, white usually plays Ng5- with the idea of sinking a knight into e6- black usually does ...Bxe6 and after dxe6, black may win the pawn, but white's compensation include the use of the d5 square and a weak d6 pawn after cxd6 cxd6- I'll try to get a game to show these ideas.
