As this is the silly season.

No Castling, Ignore the Centre, Play the Caro (spit) Khan etc etc.

Rick Kennedy calls 1.e4 Nf6 e5 d5 3.exf6 The Trojan Gambit.

(don't try and email this opening to a friend , Hotmail has a
fit when it 'reads' the word Trojan).

I've played it a couple of times in some blitz games.
Some nice wins - a few terrible defeats.

I've also played the sister idea:

1.d4 Nc6 2.d5 e5 3.dxc6

Had a good perpetual with this 3 pieces down.

But it has no name?

Over to you guys - the guy that comes up with the best name
has to play it twice on this site.

(I bet you some nutcase, apart from me, has already played it)

The snake defense
The "spit you in the eye" defense
The "do I really look as if I care" defense
The hangover defense

I sure hope I don't win this contest 🙄

I like it - The Snake.

Black sheds a piece and wriggles for a win.

(Just thought - there is no opening named after an insect - is there?)

It's Centre

You are writing in English and according to the Oxford English Dictionary.

It's Centre

It's also very rude to correct people's spelling.
Especially when one is wrong.

The Horsefly? - how does it go?

I like the name, 'the tam o shanter gambit,' cause the horsey gets whupped but the rider manages to escape albeit the worse for wear. 😀

Schiller - he may have made it up, perhaps not.

Russ can we get a spell checker for the Forums?

Our cousins from the Colonies are showing their stupidity again.

I know look how wayward they have gone after we left them to their own devices, and all because we demanded a little taxation to recuperate our losses for having looked after them for years, i dunno? the ingratitude.

lol, I dont think it was meant in any type of personal sense, my friend from Glasgow who moved to Baltimore was always being assessed in his place of employment, and he always got a work on, the reason that he 'coudnt', speak English properly, wow thats rich he thought coming from Americans, his foreman even asked him to write things down on a piece of paper so that he could understand them, which naturally he refused to do, its just frustrating to be told that you're language is erroneous when you are actually the originator of that language, that being said, I think most people could not understand Glaswegian anyhow, even greenpawn, who lives in Edinburgh has trouble with it!

I thought we were still being silly. How... wrong of me.

And robbie, I don't think that you would consider yourself rude to ask someone speaking middle English to learn modern English. Our current dialects do come from middle English, but language evolution and accents happen.

I was not frustrated it was all a piece of fun.

I'm addicted to 5 minute chess I'm afraid and I added that to
my profile because I was getting a few challenges and do not
have the time ATM. I've played 6 proper games. Six Latvians!

Back to the main thread and Irontigran is leading with
The Me Stupid Defence. I like it. Nice one. 😉
