...I saw that skull in our game as well. I did the exact oposite by waiting and then following it up w/ a blunder!

Well Franklin, I dont consider that a blunder as much as a positional mistake. I thank you for not timing me out, youre a true gentleman. Having said that, I had a game with aquitane and she disappeared for 3or4 months, and I timed her out. The next day she reappears. Geez....πŸ™‚

I'm an ICC member and I'm very surprised to hear they adjudicated in his favor.I've had a game adjudicated and they took their time and judged fair.To their defense I must say that they get a massive amount of games to deal with.I guess things like you experienced can happen once in a while. It's a drag, but such is life. One tip, next time ask for adjudication yourself. It might help! πŸ˜‰
Yes, Johan, maybe I should have. It was my teacher who was furious, not me. Not much, anyway.

It's hard for me to get too excited about a game that only lasts a few minutes. ICC is similar to OTB; analyses are only a few moves ahead and moves are often based on habit or instinct or a memorized line. CC games involve reams of notes, many hours of calculations and reading because we abandon known lines very quickly. I care about CC games.

Oh,you only play blitz on ICC then?I play a lot of standard games there. Now I can understand you better,I would never have a blitz game adjudicated either.Don't see the point, they have little meaning anyway.
Though a lot of people on ICC seem to think their lives depend on their blitz ratings πŸ˜•

One thing I really like about ICC is the MrSpock feature. For a while I would get in their 15 minute tournaments, but you had better be sure you have a few non-interrupted hours to kill before you enterπŸ™‚....but once I got on this site the pull was too great, I find this much better than blitz.

I agree, this site is extremely addictive, for my part to the extent that my family began complaining. They were right; I would stare at the 'Opponents Move' signs on the mygames page, clicking the refresh button entirely to often, waiting for a move in one of many games.

Now I limit my games to 1 or 2 at a time, with a study break in between.

There is no better game than CC to learn openings and calculation. OTB enthusiasts argue that 'any fool can play well without a clock'. Maybe so, but I'd rather think carefully about the best plan than pound a clock with an 'it will have to do' attitude.

I dont agree with them Chuck. Just because they play fast doesnt mean they play best. I think five minute (or less) games are good practice if you get in time trouble OTB, but for learning the game this site is great.

I think we are in agreement.

Going back to you work/time off situation, most games here could be completed in three weeks (by multiple moves per day players) if RHP players would play quickly through an opening. Just pick a variation that is about even and satisfactory to both. There is no need to play such a game as unrated.

Or longer TO periods.😏 Not for everyone, but I could sure use a 30 day one
