Here is a whole topic regarding a misplaced thread, it is quite amusing to read back on it now - but at the time it was fairly troublesome.

cant remember much but its good to test out on someone lower than you,
i once tried to let them know i meant to write in the notebook as i started "note to self" .... they didnt buy that one LOL 😛

Good Idea.
You could set him up for a trap by doing it on purpose.
In the days of writing and sending moves on postcards this natural facility was very useful, especially if the opponent was running behind time.
