Why do you get timed out with time left on your clock. I've been away and unable to be attentive to the games but some time left on the clock. How come a time out?

I think after you've timed out the clock on the game page can show arbitrary time...

Maybe you saw the little red clock next to the game in your inbox and thought it meant you still had time left but were getting short.

White can't take the queen, it would undouble black's pawn

Undoubling the blacks pawns gives black exactly what advantage?
