I recently had to time-out someone, twice (they were clan matches)! He hadn't moved within the 28 day period, didn't have a holidy sign up, etc. etc. and I sent him reminders and still he didn't move. So, I timed him out.

Not very nice of me, but I've got the patience of...well, something that isn't very patient.

Anyway, this person was 200 points higher than me and for the two timed-out matches I got a total of 15 points rewarded to me.

Is this normal? Do you get less points for timing someone out than beating them? What about resigning?

Sounds about right, and it makes no difference wether you win by T/O, resignation or mate, the points are the same.

Was your opponent still provisional? That could explain it. If not, a single win against a 200+ higher rated player should give you more than 16 points (if you are yourself below 2100).

I was 1240 and the opponent 1440.
I really feel quite guilty about timing him out, he might have lost a lot more points than I gained. That would be nasty.

Well, I guess I'll just have to go and drink my guilt away.

Which games are you talking about? I saw you TO'd two games against AJAXO yesterday. But his rating is below 1000, meaning you are more than 200 points rated higher. In that case the 15 points are probably correct. And he will have lost exactly the same amount of points that you won.

yeah. They were the games. But I thought he was rated 1440 or something!?

Oh well. No need to feel really guilty then uh?
I also noted he was clan leader? Does anybody know why he's not been answering reminders and such?

Unfortunately nobody seems to know why AJAXO has disappeared off the face of the planet.
I did hear that he was in his eighties so I hope it’s nothing bad.

I heard AJAXO is very ill and probably won't come back to the site :-(
