Originally posted by najdorfslayerYes, you need very much courage to play it, but I can recommend to play it when you know much about it. You can learn about it on sites such as chessgames.com and ludochess.com.

any games against someone with a clue what they're doing?
I used to play it thinking that if white plays 5.Nxf7 black has at least a draw in hand, and I didn't worry much about 5.Bxf7 because white's advantage isn't that big. This was until someone played the following line against me:
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6
4. Ng5 Bc5 5. Nxf7 Bxf2+6. Kxf2 Nxe4+ 7. Kg1 Qh4
8. g3 Nxg3 9. Nxh8 d5 10. Qf3 Nf5 11. Bxd5 maybe 11Qxd5 is even better, anyway I can find no improvement for black in the given line, I've researched it with a database and checked it with my engine, in the resulting position blacks attack seems to be over, I can find no draw by perpetual or anything else and white will enjoy a material superiority.Black might still have some chances but the position looks lost with good play from white.

I think this is the critical line in 5.Nxf7, taking the rook on h1 looks like the only chance (9...Nxh1 10.d3 d5 11.Bxd5 Qd4+ 12.Be3! Qxd5 13.Nc3) but the resulting position is much better for White.
However, Black has to change his plan - force draw instead of mating attack.
9...Nd4!
a.) White can accept the draw by playing 10.hxg3 Qxg3+ and perpetual check
b.) 10.d3 Nge2+ and 11...d5 with the usual big attack on White king.
c.) 10.Nc3 d5 11.Bxd5 Bg4! and suddenly Black is again on the roll.
d.) 10.Bf7+ Ke7 just delays the evitable before playing one of the other alternatives.
