According to the book, mechanics of the mind, the authors say(I think, been a while since I read it.) that this 'tunnel vision' happens when the brain gets occupied with a single idea or thought, and blocks all other details out.

I guess the best way to deal with it would be to have a structured dicison making process that looks at all aspects of the position. And practicing this process over a long period of time in long/correspondence games until it becomes habitual.

The sad part is that my opponent resigned with 14:11 on his clock. I had 17:22

I need to slow down and look at the entire board.
