recently two of my games ended in draw, wondering if there was a winning strategy for either of them (from the position where they ended in draw)?.
Game 1 - drawn by my opponent (3-move rule). I'm black and to move.
Game 2 - drawn by me (3-move rule). I'm black and white to move. I could've won his knight on d2 (after having exchanged queens) , but didn't see a winning line after that, and losing the game would've threaten my prospects of winning the tournament (still in progress)
thanks for your time in advance
Originally posted by MacpoI tend to agree, only the 'must win' part may be exaggerated. Still, the following exchange line leaves black with an extra pawn in a knight endgame:
quickly:
- on game 1 a draw looks fair, I would say, especially for black 🙂
- on the second one, Black MUST win, given the situation. I don't know how, but he has to.
Kg2 R1h2+ Kg1 Qxe3 fxe3 Rxd2 Rxf7 Rdh2 Raf1 Rh1+ Kf2 Rxf1+ Kxf1 Rf6+ Rxf6 Nxf6 Ke2 Ne4 Kd3 Nxg3 ....
This is not a forced line, and it may be possible for white to find improvements, but it looks a natural line to me.
