I have been playing a gambit that I am sure is unsound but I have been sucessful using this gambit in blitz games on FICS.

Well, as Dr McGrew says. It's better to play an unsound line you know well than a sound line you don't know at all.
I like it. Kind of a BDG in reverse. e4 Nc6 is interesting.
but you do have a point, it IS better to play into an unsound line you know than a sound tactical line that you don't know. However, I would prefer playing into sound lines that I DO know
I started playing this after I started playing the Smith Morra Gambit... it's similar in that you lure the pawn over to develope the knight.
I played this against Fritz and he got an edge after the opening - as usual... but there was no swift exploitation of my shady opening.
I have other games that I have won... and many that I lost as well, but I don't think I lost because the opening was bad as much as my play was bad.
