The game was a bit faster than I would have liked (I have dialup speed here) and I forgot all about time. Please tell me what I did right and wrong. Thanks

It ended with my time running out.

Here's another. This opponent is rated 1376 on RHP, which is on the high side of what I bounce between on Yahoo. BTW, now that I learned I can play live games on here I think I'm ditching Yahoo.

Unfortunately it wasn't a tactical win. I just took advatage of a major blunder.

Hi

Just skipped though 2nd one - sure White can win a piece in opening.
However stopped dead here. (did not even look at rest of game).

16.Bxb5 + (instead of Qxb4 - which is OK). can see lots of good
news for White here. Uncastled King, (so h8 Rook up). loads of
open files, loose Black pieces - must be a tactical wipe out here.

I thought the Sicilian went e4-c5 ? I don't claim I am right, that is just how I thought it started out. Are there some other rules for it's definition? (the sicilian)

You're right. The first game did go in that sequence.

I really don't like Be6 in game 1. It just ruins your structure, and good pawn structure is one of the main reasons for playing the sicilian. Otherwise you played the opening very well, your opponent didn;t put any pressure on your position and you used those tempi wisely to develop. I just think Be6 is very ugly looking.

I think I would have gone for some queenside expansion instead, especially sine that is where all your trumps lie (your strong g7 bishop, open c file etc.)

Perhaps you're right after 16. Bxb5+ axb5 17. Qxb5+ Qd7 18. Nd6+, but 16. Bxb5+ axb5 17. Qxb5+ Kf8 18. ???

edit: 18. Bc5+ Ne7 19. O-O followed by either Re1 and hope the best of it?

In the first game, the basic problem was 10 ... Be6. 10 ... Ne5 gets rid of that annoying bishop and gives black a good game.

In the second game, 7 ... cxd4 was probably called for and would have gotten you into a sicilian-like position. Things got out of hand quickly after he played d5.

Actually in the second one I'm white

But I'll look at that because I can still learn from it. 🙂

Hi Heinz.

Logged off to get wash and breakfast now rushing to get to
Edinburgh Congress - only logged on to find time of last round.

Saw after Ne7, Bxe7+ Kxe7 , Qb4+ Ke8 then castle.

(note Black cannot castle - never).

Did not go any further - just looks like like loads fo good stuff.
APA and open files - his h8 Rook will be a spectator.

Black moves are harder to find than White's and he in blunderland.

right off to congress - (still never seen rest of that game).

Edit 1; APA = All Pieces in Action (King safe).

I agree. The problem with Be6 is that those doubled pawns allow white strong play. Ne5 gets rid of the bishop and leaves you with good play in the center, and I'd say a slight advantage for black
