by black taking the second pawn he is asking to be attacked. A line from black that is frustrating for white is after Bc4 playing Bb4. Black develops and fires back. Another way black can go is just to play d5 later and give back the pawn including not taking the second pawn. He has a much better game this way.

The queen exchange variation works fairly well for black as well.
You're right. Black must realise that one white has two developed bishops and the option for very quick development with the two knights and castling, whilst black is very under developed.
I liked that game, it was an especially good sacrifice since black had quite a few potential escape squares so you would have had to work them all out to be sure.

I agree - for example, its not totally obvious what to do after 23 ... Ka7, although after 24 Qb3 black doesn't have a good defense. White had to doublecheck several lines like this to be sure he was OK. Nice job!
I beat a 1700 rated player (and rising) with a nice rook sac.

i wouldn't get to excited over the win, your 1600 opponent, who if you look at his average opponent rating had gotten that rating be beating up on 1300 player played very badly. i'm not going to criticize him as much as the others for taking the 3rd pawn, i would have done the same against a 1300 but castling queenside was suicidal.
