game ended in this position (white to play), I (black) had two pawns (kinda) close to promotion but the chances of getting either through was very slim.

After 1. Nxf3 gxf3 2. gxf3, White is the only one with any winning chances. Black's king is a long way from the action and the Black knight can easily be chased away by White's king, so I would have played on if I was White. It's almost certainly a draw with "best play".

so as black a draw was the best I could reach? i thought so.

i also figured i could fight off white's attack well enough to stop him from mating, so it wasn't a bad choice for white to draw either really.

cool, thank you very much for your response my chubby female friend 😉

hmmm, an unlikely first move though is it not

is he not FAR more likely to take my pawn, forcing a final pawn swap (as white I would have done that i think).

but point taken, there was a possible winning line - so i maybe should have played on.

Me- Pulling leggs????

If you put the position into Flintstone I it will tell you it's all forced.

Also same position was reach in Borakowliaska v Kjkjkjkumlimka,
Rum Doodle Championship 1899. and Black won as posted.

Don't you guys know anything?

All the pawns will get taken in short order, and then there will be insufficient force for either side to force a win.

Draw.

After 1. Nxf3 gxf3 2. gxf3, White still has one pawn and so still has a chance of winning. I agree that after 1. gxf3 gxf3 2. Nxf3 it's a simple draw even though White is a piece up.

No real chances; the King can get back to the Kingside before White can do much.

Although you did not post the time control. If blitz with white one sec left then...

nah no blitz this time (although that might explain my shocking play earlier in the game lol)

pretty long time controls with neither side being in trouble time-wise.
