I am hopeful for some suggestions from some of you in the area of guidance. I have been playing for about two years , am self taught and am addicted to the game but only played on instant chess.com and after 500 games at 15 minutes long it got old. i enjoy these games because you are able to take your time and actrually think. i was wondering if there is a book that is recc by most of you that i should read on chess or just keep playing lots of games and hope i get better, and finally is there someone that can look at the games you have played and tell you whether you have some sense or ability to be a great chess player. thank you in advance for those who respond. bern.

bern, screw books.
are you on a pc? get chessmaster and do the 'academy' ... much easier to follow than a book, where you have to keep playing through the variations on a board and then putting the pieces back to where they were etc...
the new fritz also has chess lessons but it hasn't come out yet.
i've no idea about some way of evaluating your 'natural' chess talent.
i guess your rating will be as good a guide as any...
