Why was the thread deleted?
When a looked a few minutes later the thread was gone ... although the two things are not necessarily connected.
It's a shame the thread went.
Looking at the responses it is clear that action was only taken when the fact that complaints had been made behind the scenes was made public. It is impossible for the complaints to have been made and investigated while the thread was in the forum.
In any event the thread should not have been deleted because infact it is erice1 who started the thread and dropped the bomb about never setting foot in a chess club.
Anything you say can and will be used against you.....

I would think that a better system would be for the thread to remain in the thread listing but when you click through to look at it the posts could be replaced with a message from the mods informing you that the post has been deleted and perhaps even the reason why it was deleted.

As I have said elsewhere I think it's a great shame the thread was delated (for many reasons) but still, bottom line is that this is RHP's playground and we are free to come here or free not to as we choose. It's up to them how they choose to moderate the forums and I fully support their right to choose as they see fit (even if I disagree on this occasion)

complete threads are usually removed because they're just train wrecks. it would take a lot of work from the unpaid volunteer mods to cherry pick the offending posts, something like 27 out of 235 messages for example, so they'll just remove the thread. it also stops (most of) the "what was it?", "it wasn't!", "yes it was!" follow-ups that invariably come after any post is removed.
