    Good example of real life sandbagging;

    Say someone is rated 1787, and wants to play in the u1600 section in the world open, where the prize is 10,000+ dollars. He may go to some weekend swisses, each costing 10 dollars, and start lowering his rating until eventually hitting his floor at 1500. He could "lay low" for a year or two, meaning he plays the occasional tournament but staying near his floor. By waiting over a year, he goes around the WO's antisandbagging rules. Then he goes in, plays the u1600, smokes his competition, and comes up with a bit of cash.
