I have heard alot about this paticular defese, but am not really sure what is is best used for. Any help would be appreciated.
DBP
Black gives up the center and aims for attacking whites central pawns formation (usually by means of Bg7 and c5). In my opinion it is not an easy defence to play for black. Among top GMs Svidler uses it regularly, you can search for his games.

Originally posted by deathbypawnBlack should play very precisely. Single slip leads to the inferior position. In my opinion white game is easier. But it is just my opinion.

English could transform into Grunfeld.

Rather for d4 square. Usual continuation cxd5, Nxd5, e4, Nxc3, bxc3 and then black tries to undermine white's center with Bg7, c5...
