And do professionals play it? I seem to have good luck with it, played it about 15 times, and won every one but 2, with players my own rating. With me being white.
1. e4 e5 2. Ng1f3 Nb8c6 3. Bf1c4 Ng8f6 4. Nf3g5 d5 5. exd5 Nf6xd5
6. Ng5xf7 Ke8xf7 7. Qd1f3 Kf7e6. 8. Nb1c3. etc.

Originally posted by flyUnityI think that 5...Nxd5 is the wrong move for black. 5...Na5 is probably better.

No, the above is the fried liver.
The wilkes-barre is:
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. Ng5 Bc5 5. Bxf7+ or Nxf7
With regards to the fried liver, people have been umming and ahhing about its soundness for decades now. Realistically it probably IS survivable but ONLY if you are well prepared.
I would imagine it would cost a lot of clock time OTB if you weren't familiar with it.

I just wanted to thank you guys for giving me something useful to read while I wait for ppl to move.
