Yep, it's an anti-turton. I don't even know what that is but it is one of them. What's wrong with turtons anyway?

apologies Rizhanin - i went a bit crazy typing out the fen.

1.Rd2 would be an anti-turton. It forces the wrong piece - the R - to the front of the battery on 1...Rxd2 2.d4 Qe2. After 3.Bc1 I don't see an obvious way for Black to break White's defense anymore, and his Be5 is still hanging.

Damn, you're too good SG! Thanks for the explaination of anti-turtonism, I feel the need to incorporate it into my play now I understand the meaning. I like the idea of forcing my opponent to drive a large articulated lorry with the truck steering from the back - jackknife central.
Where has the name come from, some guy called Turton I guess?
I'm bored, who's got some more puzzles.....

I confess to reading this little snippet before solving, and yet the meaning of 'anti-turton' is not obvious...

Well, since a regular turton is one piece withdrawing so that another can get on that same line and advance, an anti-turton is forcing a piece to advance on a line so that the other piece cannot advance once it gets on the line.
