Roots was the first thing that came to my mind as well. His comments were meant to be the most hateful, unsettling, racist remarks he could think of (a reference to a plantation foreman beating a slave until he "embraces" his new name). Considering some of the sleazy characters that taunt during blitz, I'm not the least bit surprised.

What is surprising is how far off a lot of the posters here were. I assume that since it was an American miniseries from the 70's (one of the first, alongside Rich Man Poor Man), a lot of you didn't see it. It should be required viewing for its historical content, and if you want to know the real (hellish) history of the black man in America (from freedom in Africa to "freedom" in America). Roots:The Next Generation (Part 2) is also worth a view (continuing family's struggle through history).
