What is surprising is how far off a lot of the posters here were. I assume that since it was an American miniseries from the 70's (one of the first, alongside Rich Man Poor Man), a lot of you didn't see it. It should be required viewing for its historical content, and if you want to know the real (hellish) history of the black man in America (from freedom in Africa to "freedom" in America). Roots:The Next Generation (Part 2) is also worth a view (continuing family's struggle through history).
