Game 9824171
Sure, white has a nice passed pawn but doesn't black get a perpet here? Black has check and then the E3 rook just goes to E2 and how does white stop a perpet?
Originally posted by sonhouseYes you are right and Black even has a chnce for a win if the following happens....

Agree. He should definitely have played on there. Also, same players, he has just resigned this one too...> Game 9824168 I wouldn't have folded in that one either.
Something fishy going on at the top, methinks, ha ha!
Looking at the Tournament 13999 a draw was no good to Black.
A January forum post indicates Black (wqt2008) may not be taking
any chess on here too seriously.

(though for a while it looked like he was trying win on time with KN v K.)
Maybe due to his high game load he missed it and only saw in his
mind this position....
46...Ree2 then 47 Rxb3.
47...Rxb3 is a clear loss missing 47...Rf2+ is a clear draw.

Originally posted by greenpawn34I PM'd him and asked him about that game and he said he knew it was a perpet but with the long time set for the games, he just wanted to get that one over with so he could go on to games he knew he could win. I think he said Carp was 'very strong player' and was not certain it was a perpet so he just resigned to be able to concentrate on the rest of his games. If I could see it as a perpet and I am 500 points lower, he should have seen that instantly I would have thought but I gather he wasn't interested in just getting the half point.
